Life insurance applications in the U.S. hit a record high in Q1 2026, rising 14.3% from 2025, with the strongest growth among those aged 60-69 (29.9%) and 70+ (46.3%). Term, whole, and universal life policies all saw double-digit increases, especially among older adults seeking final expense and legacy coverage. Growth is driven by economic anxiety, mortality awareness, and easier no-exam policies. Despite gains, underinsurance remains widespread.
