Nearly 372,000 Georgians will lose subsidized health insurance as enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies expire amid a government shutdown. Premiums will sharply increase, with some doubling or more, pricing many out of coverage. Georgia, which hasn't expanded Medicaid, faces a 53% drop in marketplace enrollment and a 39% rise in uninsured residents. This threatens insurer participation and could raise premiums for all, including employer plans.
